Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, Georgia with Chaplin Norman Drummond officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of the service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow the service at Shiloh Cemetery on Double Churches Rd, Columbus, Georgia.
Mr. Stinson, son of the late Homer Stinson and Ruby Maughon Stinson, was born on September 11, 1921 in Brundidge, Alabama. He was a 1938 graduate from Mountain Hill High School, he later in life served in the Restoration of Mountain Hill High. Mack was serving as a Civil Service Sheet Metal worker in Pearl Harbor, Navy Yard during the bombing on December 7, 1941. He served there until VJ Day, where upon he was drafted into the Army CID for two years. Upon returning to Columbus, he became interested in woodwork and joined the clubs of Columbus Woodworking and Twin City Woodturning. He was also a partner in the development of Lokey Estates, Moore’s Forest, and Twin Chapel: three of the first Residential Developments in North Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 38 years, Helen Lokey Stinson and his late wife Elizabeth Ann Johnson Stinson of 16 years; also one sister, Gloria Stinson Ellison, and one brother, Jerry R. Stinson (Mary) Also, one stepson, James Arthur Hartin. Mack parented no children of his own, but is survived by two stepsons: Russell Dollar and Rodney Dollar; daughter-in-law, Nettie Hartin and numerous other extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
