Lillie M. Pope

Lillie Mae Pope, 101, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 from 10:00AM until 11:00AM with a chapel service following at 11:00AM.

Born on September 19, 1920, daughter of the late James Ulysses Sasser and Lou Mills Sasser. She was one of twelve children. Lillie married the love of her life, Brady A. Pope and spent 58 cherished years with him before his passing in 1999. She worked for Bibb Mill here in Columbus and retired after 42 years. She was a hard worker, the most loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Her family was her life and she would do anything for them if it was needed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Lou Sasser; her husband, Brady Pope; daughter, Ernestine Rolison, and eight siblings.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Marjean Waters (James); grandsons, Allen Pettis (Tracy) and their daughter, Bailey, Jamie Waters (Karen) and their children, Ashley, Hillary and Morgan. Jeff Waters (Dawne) and their children Blake Drake (Chris), and Riley. Jason Pettis (Holly) and their son, Cole; one great great granddaughter, Mayleigh Drake; siblings, Jeanette Miller, Gladys Jones, David Sasser; many nieces and nephews.
