Lillian Vaudine Evans, 94 of Columbus, Georgia died Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at St Francis Hospital. The funeral service is as follows: the family will receive family and friends at 1:00 PM at Striffler Hamby Mortuary in Columbus, Georgia with funeral to follow at 2:00 PM. Graveside service will immediately follow at Parkhill Cemetery.
Lillian was born on August 14, 1926 in Blakely, Georgia to the late Judson Jenkin McMullen and Lucille Hill McMullen. At the age of 16, she moved to Columbus, Georgia and began working at Tom Houston Peanut Company. It was there she met the love of her life, James Arthur Evans. They dated three years and were married in Phenix City, Alabama on May 10, 1947. They were married for 73 years at the time of her death.
She was a devoted member of Britt David Baptist Church and was a godly wife and mother. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely.
She is survived by her husband James Evans, daughters Lynn Park (Tim) of Mansfield, GA., Robin Merkel (Jim) Parkton, NC. and Jill Dodelin (Richard) Fortson GA, She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jessica Park, Seth Park, Claire Park, Lauren Merkel, Will Dodelin, Isaac Merkel, Zachary Merkel, Hannah Gillis, and her 8 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
