Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. with Reverend Jimbo Albrecht officiating. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
Mr. Massey was born to the late Lee Massey and Ethel Vain Massey on October 14, 1922 in West Helena, Arkansas where he graduated from Woodruff High School. He has been a resident of Columbus for over 50 years and was retired from the U.S. Army with 26 years of dedicated service. Mr. Massey served in World War II and then earned his degree to become a Chief Criminal Investigation Officer. He study at the University of Vienna in Austria and the University of Maryland. Mr. Massey also worked as a CID Detective and an MP while being stationed in Germany and Korea. He has been a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church for over 50 years and was a member of the Gideon’s International. He retired from CB&T where he served as a Vice President.
Survivors include his wife Jewel Massey of Columbus, GA. a son, Larry J. Massey of Hoschton, GA, daughters, Merry F. Carden of Columbus, GA, and Gina G. Menard of Freeport, FL, two grandchildren, Tye Massey (Jenny) and Brandon Mixon, three great grandchildren, Willa Massey, Wynn Massey and Teller Watson Massey and a sister, Virginia Machen of Little Rock, AR.
