Lessie was a graduate of Jordan High School. She was married to the late Raymond Dewey Holloway for 56 years. Lessie worked at Swift Spinning Mills and retired after 40 years without missing a day.
Lessie was a wonderful wife, mother and taught her children and future generations crocheting, quilting and sewing. She was a fabulous cook, her cakes were the talk of the table, especially her red velvet cake. Not to mention her wonderful biscuits! As her family grew so did her passion for teaching her grandchildren to play games, whom she did not allow to win! Lessie’s spent her life caring for others never saying anything bad about others. It was her Christian faith and love for others that is Lessie. She was the secretary and kept the nursery on Sundays at her church, along with serving with the other ladies of the church on the Hospitality Committee.
She leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her daughters: Peggy (Steve) Smith and Helen (Alvin d.) Berry; six loving grandchildren; fifteen very adored great grandchildren; and one very sweet great great grandchild; her two sisters Mildred Taylor and Joyce Johnson; and numerous other family members and great friends. Lessie was preceded in death by her parents Myrtice and Edwin McLeod; her husband of 56 years Raymond Holloway; brothers: Ralph and Roy McLeod; and sisters Margaret Paul and Doris Morris.
A service to celebrate Lessie’s life will be held on Monday November 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Tommy Bradford officiating in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia 31907.
