A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday July 1, 2015, at Riverdale Cemetery with Dr. Frank Parr officiating.
Mrs. Lacy was born September 23, 1921, in Bainbridge, Georgia to Massey and Bessy Chestnut. Early in life her family moved to Columbus where her father was a molder at Columbus Foundry.
Growing up she was a student at Industrial High School before going to work at Tom’s Foods in Columbus and later worked with Civil Service at Ft. Benning. It was there she met and married Lt. Col. Alan S. Lacy. They served the US Army at several postings both in the US and overseas. She enjoyed becoming a wife and mother and they celebrated a 51 year marriage until his passing in 1998. Mr. and Mrs. Lacy had two sons, Michael Alan Lacy and Richard Lee Lacy, who also live in Columbus.
Enormous thanks to the Staff of Columbus Hospice as well as her at home caregivers, Helen, Bertha and Nadine for the kindness and care they showed her during her final days.
In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be sent to
