Kevin was a veteran of the United States Army, enlisting in 1985. He served with many units, most notably the 1st and 3rd Ranger Battalion, the 82nd Airborne, 3rd Brigade Kelly Hill, 4th Ranger Training Battalion, and subsequently he retired from active duty in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cora Elder.
He is survived by his former wife, Rebekah Elder and their children: Brian Elder (Taylor), Katie Scott (Zack), Daniel Elder, Michael Elder and Jacob Elder, and 8 grandchildren, Jackson, Memphis, Huntleigh, Huxlee, Liam, Jackson, Reagan, and Lachlan, all of Kentucky; his father, Leonard Thomas Elder (Darlene) of Michigan; his sister, Lise Elder of Washington; his niece, Paula (Ethan) Henshaw of Texas; and his nephew, Kevin Tagalos of Florida.
A funeral service for Kevin will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 9:00 AM at the TIC Infantry Chapel, 7070 Sigerfoos Rd., Fort Benning, GA 31905.
Kevin will be laid to rest with full Military Honors in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 Highway 165, Fort Mitchell, Alabama 36875.
