Katie Alice Griggs

A graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend James Strickland officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus.

Katie was born in Marion County, GA July 30, 1930. She was a textile worker for Swift Spinning Mills. After retiring she enjoyed loving her family and friends. Katie was the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Dessa Mae Carter.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her younger son, George H. Carter, brother, George T. Carter, and granddaughter, Christina Carter.

She is survived by a son, Leon Carter and his wife, Janie of Fortson, GA; a brother, Leroy Carter and his wife, Joan of Powder Springs, GA; four sisters, Cornelia Murphy and her husband, David of Waverly Hall, GA, Ophelia Page and her husband, Roy of Conyers, GA, Vera Mainor of Columbus, GA, Myrtle Green and her husband, Nick of Columbus, GA; two grandsons, and four granddaughters; a host of nieces and nephews; loving dog and constant companion, Peter Pete.

In lieu of flowers, those who desire may make contributions to a favorite charity.
