Karl Heinz Kessler

Karl Heinz Kessler, age 62, resident of Columbus, died on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House. Memorial services will be held at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 19, 2011 from 4-6 p.m. Mr. Kessler, son of the late Eugene Wright, Sr. and Stefanie Wright, was born April 12, 1949 in Berching, Germany. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country honorably during the Vietnam Era Conflict. Mr. Kessler was a devoted employee for Smith and Gray Electric for over 24 years. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Elijah Karl Allen. Mr. Kessler is survived by the love of his life, Rhonda Kessler of Columbus; two daughters, Stefanie Eckard and her husband Billy of Hickory, NC and Kalissa Norwood and her husband Willie of Columbus; two sisters, Margit Almy of Columbus and Mary Jane Burkhalter and her husband Russell of Virginia Beach, VA; one brother, Eugene Wright, Jr. of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren, Cody Wayne Eckard, Macey Marie Eckard, and Isaiah Norwood; two nieces, Beth Ann Pettis of Lula, GA and Sherri Van Fleet and her husband Mike of Tucson, AZ; three nephews, Peter Almy residing in Pirmasens, Germany, Larry Almy, Jr. of Columbus, and Steven Burkhalter stationed in Korea; great nieces, Stephanie Almy of Columbus, Rachel Almy of Columbus; and many other great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
