Karen Jo Lancaster, age 57, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Saturday February 1, 2020. Karen was born February 19, 1962 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Betty Carol Portalatin and Jose Antonio Portalatin.
She had a heart of gold. Karen loved her family and spending time with them. Karen had a soft spot for animals, and she opened her home to many cats, rabbits, fish and occasionally birds. Karen enjoyed spending time with friends antiquing, looking for flea market finds, and at yard sales (especially with Evelyn). She also enjoyed traveling with friends to the casinos to play the slot machines-one of her favorite things to do. Karen was an avid University of Georgia Bulldogs fan. She loved to watch football and keep up the teams and how each team placed during the season. When her mom, Mrs. Betty, was living, Karen and her mom loved to spend time together playing Bingo at the VFW and Shriners. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Karen is survived by her father, Jose Antonio Portalatin; brothers, David C. Portalatin (Tina Portalatin), Jay Portalatin (Katie Portalatin) and Ricardo "Rick" Portalatin (Melissa Portalatin); son, Greg Sbaldigi; son, Lance Boyd; and son, Branden Boyd; granddaughter, Sienna Sbaldigi; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Carol Portalatin.
A visitation of family and friends for Karen will be held Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907.
