Columbus, Georgia- Marshall M. "JR" Belk, Jr., age 63, resident of Columbus, died on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, 11 a.m. with Reverend Paul Thomas, Reverend Bud Rupel, and Reverend Watson McKemie officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Wildwood Room of the funeral home on Monday, November 9, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Belk, son of the late Marshall Melvin Belk and Susie Applewhite Belk, was born March 6, 1952 in Talbot County, Georgia. He was employed by Life Star Ambulance Service for many years and later worked as a personal landscaper at Parkhill Cemetery. Mr. Belk was a faithful member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God, to which he dedicated his life towards the Lord's service. Mr. Belk is survived by a daughter, Kristen Leigh Belk of Illinois; three sisters, Peggy Morris and her husband Curtis of Phenix City, Alabama, Emily Tillman and her husband Mike of Columbus, and Patricia Braddy and her husband George of Warner Robins, Georgia; his precious companion, Sybil Bonin and her children; many other relatives and friends.
