Joseph A. "Joe" Johnson

Mr. Joseph A. “Joe” Johnson, age 93, passed away on April 10, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA at 11:00 AM with Rev. Gene Forehand officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Mr. Johnson was born on November 10, 1918 in Geneva, AL to the late John and Polly Jane Johnson. He was a member of North Highland Assembly of God, where he was a deacon, a past Sunday School Superintendent and a member of the Mission Board. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Louverne Johnson, a daughter, Janice Ann Mobley and a grandson, Steve Mobley.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda East (Daniel, Jr.) of Columbus, GA; a sister, Virgin Pelham; four grandchildren, Donna Thornell (Mike), Kim Redmond (Danny), Daniel East, III (Tina) and Seletha Sebo; seven great-grandchildren, Wendy Hetzel, Daniel East, IV, Lee Harmon, Rachel Thornell, Lindsey East, Kaila Thornell and Daniel Joseph Redmond and one great-great-grandchild, Baylee Hetzel.

In honor of Joe’s love of missions, missions offerings may be given in lieu of flowers to the North Highland Assembly of God, Missions Fund, 7300 Whittlesey Blvd, Columbus, GA 31909.
