A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday April 29, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, Georgia. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 3:00 PM with burial following in Parkhill Cemetery.
He was born on September 22, 1940 in Columbus, Georgia to Joseph A. Bowden Jr. and Ellaree B. Bowden. Joey was married to Barbara V. Brown Bowden for 44 years. He worked for many years as a pressman at Litho-Krome Printing in Columbus. After retirement, he and Barbara enjoyed antiquing and traveling together. Joey was an all American guy. Spending many mornings and evenings in the woods hunting with his friends and nephews. Joey and Barbara were longtime members of Edgewood Baptist Church. Joey maintained a profound faith in and devotion to our Lord and Savior, until his passing. He was kind hearted and had a very giving spirit, always looking for ways to make others happy. Above all, Joey loved and cared for all of his friends and family. He will be greatly missed, but has left his mark on the hearts of many throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Bowden; Daughters Kayleen Burnett and Jennifer L. Shaw; Sons Joseph Andrew Bowden IV and Jimmy D. Shaw; Sisters Rita Wood and Nancy Daughety; Grandchildren, Cameron, Max, Shayla, Shelby, Marquise and Nastasyia; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their children.
