Service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia. Family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery.
John Romeo was born in Albany, Georgia on November 15, 1929. Son of James J. Romeo and Vincenza Spano Romeo. He attended Albany and Columbus public schools graduating from Jordan Vocational High School in 1947. John attended Auburn University graduating with a degree in electrical engineering in 1958. He worked for Georgia Power Company for 40 years retiring in 1987. After his retirement, he was a member of the ambassadors of Georgia Power. John was an active member of the Kiwanis club of Greater Columbus for over 30 years, he served as secretary for 13 years and on the board for eight. John was a lifelong active member of Holy Family and St. Anne Catholic Church, he served as an usher for 42 years. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, and sports playing baseball himself during his school years.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty Jean Raines of 68 years; two daughters: Debra Dean of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and Susan Solomon of Columbus, Georgia; five grandchildren: Michelle Dean of New Orleans, Louisiana, Alex, Christopher, and Anna Dean of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Mark Solomon of Columbus, Georgia. Also a special niece and nephew, Al and Judy Davis of Panama City Beach, Florida
