Funeral services for Mr. Jasper will be Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, Georgia with Elder Tim Long officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday August 6th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. Private interment at Parkhill Cemetery.
Mr. Jasper was born on December 10, 1931 in Harris County, Georgia the son of the late John Norbert Jasper, Sr. and Mary Griffin Jasper. He had been a resident of the Columbus/Upatoi area for most of his life and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Jasper was retired from the Norfolk-Southern Railroad and a member of Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church of Box Springs, Georgia.
Mr. Jasper was a loving husband to his wife of 62 years, Margie. He loved his family and enjoyed helping friends and neighbors, never expecting anything in return, like cutting grass for neighbors who were unable. Mr. Jasper loved his grandchildren, fishing and hunting-he had a garden every year, sharing vegetables with others and he enjoyed cooking catfish for everyone.
Survivors include his wife Margie S. Jasper of Upatoi, three daughters: Laurie Perry and her husband, Ron of Upatoi, GA, Alison Jasper of Columbus and Alicia Jasper of Columbus; a sister, Elizabeth Winget of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren: Ian Perry of Columbus and Erin Perry of Upatoi; sister-in-law Jeanette Jasper of Columbus and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mt. Paron Primitive Baptist Church, PO Box 51 Box Springs, GA 31801.
