Phenix City, AL- Joe Spradley, 74, of Phenix City, AL, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014.

A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Spradley's life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 17, 2014 in Parkhill Cemetery according to Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907.

Mr. Spradley was born April 4, 1940 in Tifton, GA, son of the late Joe Spradley, Sr., and Dona Harper Spradley. He retired from Swift Spinning Mills after many years of services. Mr. Spradley was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. He Enlisted in 1958. Following Basic Training, he attended and graduated from Jump School in Ft. Bragg, NC. He was very proud to have served in what he called, "The Finest Fighting Forces in The World."

Mr. Spradley was also a very devoted father, grandfather, and friend. He loved spending time with his family. He also loved preparing for family gatherings at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Mr. Spradley always had a warm place in his heart for his grandchildren. He would give them a dollar whenever he would see them and say, "You got a dollar".

Survivors include his daughter, Carol Burkhalter (William Spano) of Auburn, AL, his son, Steve Spradley of Phenix City, AL, his grandchildren, Dakota, Cheyenne, Ashley, Page, and Crystal, special friend, Betty Carden, one brother, Tony, and one sister, Brenda.
