Joanne Harrison

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. 31907 with Father Frank Patterson officiating. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Chapel.

Joanne was born in Harris County, GA. on May 14, 1939 to the late Joe Phil Harrison and Eva Dodson Harrison. She was a lifelong area resident and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She often sang in the choir at Holy Family Catholic Church and First Baptist Church of Columbus. Joanne graduated from Columbus High School and the University of Georgia where she was active in the band. Joanne retired from the Russell County School System where she served as a School Counselor for many years. Joanne never lost her love for learning. She served as Past President of the Columbus Academy of Lifelong Learning (CALL) where she was also a student. Her love of music continued throughout her lifetime. Her brother Ray Harrison preceded her in death.

Joanne is survived by numerous cousins.
