She was married to Ronnie Meares for 62 years. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked for Dr. Jack C. Hughston for 44 years at Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia. She attended Seventh Day Adventist Church on Schomburg Road in Columbus. Joan loved her church family. She loved spending time with her family. Joan enjoyed boating on Lake Oliver and Lake Harding and traveling to the Mountains. She was a very giving, caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and especially loved her.
Joan is survived by her loving husband, Ronnie Meares; daughter Debi Lewis; son Ron Meares, (Nancy); sister Lenora Jones; her grandchildren: Shannah Mabry (Tee), Wesley Meares (Sarah), and Trey Meares (Emily); her great grandchildren: Leileighana Mabry, Aston Mabry, Ayden Mabry, Brayden Meares, Logan Meares, and Ellie June Meares; her nephew Kimber Jones (Amy) and many other family members and great friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her father Laurence Pervis and her mother Dannie Strickland Pervis.
A visitation for family and friends for Joan will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be at 11:00 AM in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
