Kathleen Jeanette Barton was born on June 4, 1932 to W.E. and Mary Sims in Marianna, Florida. She went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the age of 90. She married the love of her life, Lewis Leon Barton on November 29, 1947. After relocating to Columbus, Georgia, both Lewis and Jeanette were employed by Jordan Mills until their retirement. Outside of work, Mrs. Barton was a wonderful homemaker who was known for her great cooking. She and her husband loved to go fishing with their children and grandchildren. Mrs. Barton was a member of Evangel Church Assembly of God.
Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by her parents W.E. and Mary Sims, her loving husband of 58 years Lewis Leon Barton, her son Gerald Barton, son-in-law Wayne Lumpkin and grandson Johnny Wayne Lumpkin.
She leaves to cherish her memory five daughters, Jimmie Manning (Roger) of Montgomery, AL, Jan Lumpkin of Columbus, GA, Lois Creamer (Eddie) of Ellerslie, GA, Mary Ray (Ed) of Columbus, GA, and Hazel Hicks (Robert) of Cataula, GA; daughter-in-law Rhonda Barton of Lovettsville, VA; twelve grandchildren, Sherry Tsimpides (Mike), Carolyn Wilson (Chris), Jeannie Clark (Rodney), Jamie Lumpkin, Lisa Krause (Jason), Karen Vaughn (Craig), Chris Ray, Matthew Ray (Purvi), Will Ray (Rachel), Kimmi Butler (Adam), Jeremy Hicks (Fiancee-Lauren) and Jansen Hicks; 23 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm on Saturday July 2, 2022 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary located at 4071 Macon Rd. in Columbus, GA. The service will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 pm with Reverend Paul Thomas Officiating.
