Janet W. Ballentine, age 76, resident of Columbus, died on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Azalea Trace Nursing Facility. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, 11 a.m. with Reverend Paul Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. Mrs. Ballentine, daughter of the late Walter Cleon Williams and Lucille Hubbard, was born September 27, 1935 in Columbus. She was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God church and retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield where she faithfully served for over 32 years. Mrs. Ballentine was preceded in death by her brother, Don Williams and step-mother, Idelle Williams. She is survived by her husband, Jack E. Ballentine of Midland, GA; one daughter, Sheree Lovett and her husband Don of Cataula, GA; one son, Kris Starling and his wife Elizabeth of Waverly Hall, GA; one sister, Lynn Lefan of Montgomery, AL; one brother, David Williams and his wife Cindy of Lenoir, NC; three grandchildren, Tracy Lovett of Columbus, Lee Starling and his wife Krystal of Columbus, and Lindy Starling of Waverly Hall, GA; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Starling and Miller Daniel; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
