Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel, 4071 Macon Road. Rev. Jerry Speer will officiate with interment in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 P.M. until 3 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Roper was born October 23, 1917 in Geneva County, AL the daughter of the late Frank H. Hundley and the late Tessie Woodham Hundley. She retired from Fieldcrest Mills as a supervisor after thirty seven years of service. She had many hobbies and one of those was quilting. She won numerous fair ribbons on her quilts. She made 100's of quilts for her family and friends. They are spread from coast to coast and she was a member of many quilting groups and clubs.
Mrs. Roper's other hobby was her love of gardening and she was recognized with the local paper for her "Bird of Paradise". She could grow anything from orchids, roses, fruits and fruit trees. Cooking was another hobby she enjoyed, her Peanut Butter Cake, was a favorite with family and friends alike. She never grew tired of spending time with family. It was her greatest pleasure.
Mrs. Roper was a member of Northside Baptist Church, TEL Sunday School Class, and was active with The Glory Group. She was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Roper, one son, Charlie Frank Enfinger; one sister, Jean Cantrell; two brothers, John Ed Hundley and Ray Hundley; a graddaughter, Deborah Jane Frizzell; one great-granddaughter, McKenzi Currie.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Yarnall of Columbus, Inez Frizzell of Columbus, and Sandra Lombardi and her husband, Pete of Abbeville, AL; one son, Bill Enfinger of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Katheryn Hughes of Tallahassee, FL and Winnie Wertz of Cottonwood, AL; one brother, Frank Hundley of South Port, FL; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church Building Fund, Covent Hospice, Dothan, AL or flowers will be accepted.
