Jan, daughter of the late Jeanette Long, was born September 20, 1960 in Columbus, Georgia. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1978. Jan was always devoted to her loved ones; she began working at the age of 13 to help and support her mother. She was ever faithful and dedicated to her best friend/life-companion and there was nothing that pleased Jan more than devoting her life to Dove and watching Auburn football as she was an avid War Eagle fan. Jan also loved the beach and found solace there.
She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December of 2015 and had been a warrior and true hero ever since. Jan fought with all she had and never complained or gave-up while still keeping her faith in the Lord.
Before her health declined Dove, Ginger and Peggy surprised Jan for her 50th birthday with a trip to watch her beloved Boston Redsox play at Fenway Park , her dream that became reality and created memories that will last forever.
Jan is survived by her best friend/life-companion of over 30 years, Dove Foutz; brother, Bob Cannon and his wife Debbie; step-father, Bob Long; a very special aunt, Gigi and uncle, Ricky; numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; her chosen family, Ginger Collins, Peggy Perkins, and Ronnie Collins; and many loyal, dedicated, and loving friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jan’s memory to Southern Teal, 1152 Laurelwood Rd. Columbus, GA. 31904.
