A memorial service will be held in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd Columbus, GA, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 3:00 pm. Private interment will be at Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus GA.
Mr. James Pillman was born on September 27th, 1925 in Chicago, Ill. to the late William and Mabel Pillman. He moved to Columbus GA, in 1963 and retired from the U. S. Army in 1966 after 21 years of service. He moved to Phenix City, Al 12 years ago after the passing of his wife of 51 years, Ingeborg Pillman. He served In Africa and France during WWII. He received two Bronze Star Medals, WWII Victory Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Survivors include his two sons, James C. Pillman and wife Ruth Pillman of Phenix City, AL, Larry L. Pillman and wife Norma Pillman of Agat, Guam; six grandchildren, Christian Pillman of Smith Station, AL, Amy P. Jordan of Phenix City, AL., Mark, Steven, James, and Sonny Pillman of Agat, Guam; three great-grandchildren, Katlyn, Haley, and Cidney Pillman.
Mr. Pillman also leaves behind a sister, Mabel of Chicago Heights, Ill., other family members and many friends.
