James Lewis Peterson, 86, of Columbus, GA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at his home.

Graveside funeral services with U.S. Navy Honors will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA.

Mr. Peterson was born on November 14, 1937 in Columbus, GA to the late Junice C. Peterson and Dellamae Pitts Peterson. He was a lifelong resident of Columbus and was retired from Pepsi Cola/Buffalo Rock. Mr. Peterson was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was an avid fisherman and a Georgia Bulldog fan.

Survivors include his loving wife; Lorene Peterson, daughter; Gisela Thomas (Jamar), step-son; Phineas Johnson, grandchildren; Tamika Pugh (Nigel), Sha'Von Hill (Matthew), Brianna Eagle and Sydney Johnson, great grandchildren; Nyuis Pugh, Carson Wideman, Nyiah Pugh, Kievy Hill, Kalia Hill and Jamar'e Wingfield.
