Irene Hendrix Turner

Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday February 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd Columbus, Georgia 31907. Family will visit with friends before the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will be after the service in Parkhill Cemetery.

Irene Hendrix Turner was born on November 8, 1949 in Claxton, Georgia to the late Alice Clyde Snipes Hendrix and James Colon Hendrix. She grew up on a farm in Evans County with her family where she became an avid reader during her childhood. All the reading helped her expand her knowledge and acquire good grades, proving it to her children with her report cards. Mrs. Irene was a devoted Christian and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her sister "Lib" Skeen and son, Gary "GiGi" Bruce Turner, Jr.

She leaves her husband of 38 years, Gary Turner; sons, Wesley Nail (Melissa), Matthew Lee Turner; daughter, Renee Fonder (LeRoy); grandchildren, Brooke Fonder, Blake Fonder, Bridgette Fonder, Dalten Martin, DeLanney Martin, Colby Waller, Clara Nail and a new grandson on the way; brothers, Robert Hendrix, Colon Hendrix; sister, Marian Howell; and numerous other relatives and friends to cherish her memories. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and especially loved her.
