She was born in Berlin, Germany to the late Gerda and Albert Guhl. Albert died when Ingrid was very small, her Mom, Gerda married William Jacob Maines. Soon after Ingrid and her family moved to the United States of America from Germany passing through Ellis Island, New York. Eventually going to Fort Collins, Colorado to be with other family members. Ingrid met her husband James C. Johnson in Columbus, Georgia and married in 1963. James’ job moved the family to Atlanta in 1980, James passed in 1988. She would later marry Joseph C. Bottoms. Ingrid loved being outdoors working in her yard with her plants, going to the beach or enjoying God’s glorious sunshine. She was a great cook and loved to share her talent with family and friends. Ingrid also loved her feline companions, Momma Kitty, Buddy, and Peepers. Ingrid will be greatly missed by all who knew and especially loved her.
She is survived by her children: Tammy (Philip) Scarborough, Tim (Tasha Hoke) Johnson, and Freddie (Sandra) Johnson; granddaughter, Katie Scarborough; grandsons, Josh Johnson and Aidyn Johnson; sister Renate Cole; nieces, Debra Bryson, Sheila Cole Mills, Claudia Mills, and Delaney Mills; nephew Jim Revis; good friend Barbara Milam; and a host of other family and friends. Ingrid was preceded in death by her father Albert Guhl and parents Gerda and William “Bill” Maines; husband James C. Johnson; husband Joseph C. Bottoms; and son James Johnson, Jr.
Family will visit with friends on Saturday February 26, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. A service to celebrate Ingrid’s life will begin at 3:00 PM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby with her son Pastor, Freddie Johnson officiating. Burial in Parkhill Cemetery will follow the services.
