A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 1:00 PM in Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Danny Courtney officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907.
Mr. Bowens was born December 31, 1936 in Phenix City, AL, son of the late Jimmy Tobie and Mary Lee Hall Bowens. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bowens was also an avid fisherman and gardener.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowens was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Lee Bowens and Carl “Rufus” White.
Survivors include four sisters, Lillian Davis, Susie A. Ray, Ardath M. Fleming (David), and Rebecca J. Watson; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
