Helen Taunton Grantham

Helen Taunton Grantham, age 94, of Columbus, GA passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023. Born March 11, 1929 in Transylvania, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late Oliver Derrell and Minnie Ola (Graves) Taunton.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Columbus, GA and was active with the WMU and Meals on Wheels. Family activities and reading were two of her passions. She worked as an Auto Claims Adjuster at State Farm for over 30 years.

Survivors include her children, Derrell E. (Susan) Grantham of Dalton, GA, Roger “Craig” Grantham, Sr. of Hamilton, GA; her daughter-in-laws, Montea Grantham and Jerri Grantham; her grandchildren, Dan (LaCretia) Brown; Kenley (Melissa) Clark, Ginger “B.J.” Ades, Albert “Grant” (Brittany) Grantham IV, Susanna (Adam) Ames, Roger Craig (Tori) Grantham, Jr., Kourtney (Jackson) Brown, Mitchell Grantham; and her great-grandchildren, Emma Brown, Alex Brown, Olivia Ades, Lila Ames, Judah Ames, Elizabeth Ades, Breanna Brown, Banks Brown and Trip Grantham.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Albert “A.G.” Grantham, Jr.; her sons, Albert G. “AL” Grantham III and Gary M. Grantham.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Edgewood Hall, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 3:00PM. Dr. Jimmy Elder will be officiating service. Family will visit with friends at Striffler- Hamby on Monday afternoon from 1:30PM-3:00PM. Burial will take place at Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus, GA privately with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Helen’s memory to the First Baptist Church, Columbus, GA Local Missions.
