Juanita was born in Nashville, Georgia to Sylvester and Elizabeth Creech. She was the youngest of eight children, 6 boys and 2 girls. She grew up in Pelham a small town in South Georgia. Many in Columbus know her as a hard worker and busy lady. In addition to being a wife and mother, she was an Arthur Murray dancer, a licensed beautician with her own beauty shop on Warm Springs Road, and a LPN in nursing homes retiring when she was eighty years old.
She is survived by four children: Patricia Gardner Thomasson (Charles, Yorba Linda, CA), Susan Deborah Gardner Sirls (Steve, Columbus), William Davidson Gardner (Christine, Columbus), and Eddie Heath Carter. In addition, she leaves 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Her husband William Theophilus Gardner was in military service and died while serving in Germany, July 5, 1960. Edward Jackson Carter, her second husband was a retired M/ Sgt who died in 1998.
Juanita was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and The Pythian Sisters attending their chapters in Fort Benning.
