Baby Hatcher Nell Campbell passed away December 21, 2018 at the Children’s Healthcare Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She was born the daughter of Mallory Elizabeth Beatty Campbell and Clinton Howard Campbell on May 3, 2018 in Columbus, GA.
Precious “Hattie” or “Hattie Cakes”, as she was known, made a huge impact on many people during her short time here on earth. The first four months of Hattie’s life were spent in the excellent care of the NICU at Egleston Children’s Hospital, with her parents by her side. Here, Hattie proved what a miracle and a warrior she was, overcoming numerous obstacles and defying the odds time and time again.
Hattie’s parents were thrilled when they were able to bring her home on September 25th, where her family was waiting with open arms. Once home, her Mommy was blessed with the wonderful and unique opportunity to be both Hattie’s Mommy and nurse, providing the care Hattie required around the clock. Hattie and her Mommy were inseparable and Hattie spent every night sleeping and snuggling in her Mommy’s arms. Hattie also loved napping in her Daddy’s arms and rubbing her sweet face in his beard. She was a true “Daddy’s girl”, watching football with him and snuggling and he was a big part of her daily care. Hattie loved her big sisters, Chloe and Liza, so much and would smile the sweetest smile as soon as she heard their voices when they came home from school. They loved holding Hattie, singing to her and covering her with sweet kisses. Hattie also loved having her head rubbed by everyone, especially her grandfather, Butch. Hattie’s adorable smile would light up the room and melt hearts!
Hattie is survived by her parents, Clint and Mallory Campbell, big sisters Chloe and Liza, grandfather Roy “Butch” Beatty, Jr., grandparents Larry (Yvonne) Campbell, grandfather James Evans, great-grandfather Joseph Scarborough, III, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and prayer warriors.
Hattie was preceded in death by her grandmother Deborah Beatty, her grandmother Pamela Evans and her great-grandmother Mary Nell Scarborough.
Hattie’s family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at both Piedmont Columbus Regional NICU and Egleston Children’s Hospital NICU, PICU and Transplant floor for providing the most excellent care and support. They would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Da’Vita Pediatric Dialysis in Tucker, GA for the education and support that allowed Hattie’s dialysis to be done in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. The family would also like to thank the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House at Egleston for providing a comfortable and safe “home away from home” during the months of Hattie’s hospital stay. Many, many thanks also for the prayers and support from family, friends, co-workers and all of Hattie’s prayer warriors during this journey.
The family requests donations are made to the Beads of Courage Program at Egleston and/or the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House at Egleston.
