Freda Mae Renfroe, age 81, passed away, Saturday, October 14, 2017. A visitation will be held Tuesday October 17, 2017 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. Pastor Ricky Ward from Grace Free Will Baptist Church of Phenix City, will be conducting, Freda’s Graveside Service on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 in Parkhill Cemetery, at 11:00 am.
Freda was born in Phenix City, AL, on December 8, 1935 the daughter of John Dozier Thompson and Thelma Jenkins Thompson. Freda graduated from Smith’s Station High School. She met and married Ronald G. Renfroe on March 1, 1985. Freda was an accounting clerk and receptionist for Hughes Supply and The Columbus Company. Through the years Freda enjoyed many things, especially spending time gardening and her love for animals. Yet, her greatest joy was spending time with the family she loves. Freda was a member of the Croswell Baptist Church in Sumter, South Carolina.
Freda was preceded in death by; her parents, her late husband, Albert Ronald Hall, two brothers Bobby Thompson, Homer Thompson, two sisters, Bea Thompson, Emily Britton, a grandson Justin Griffin, and three sisters-in-law, Betty Thompson, Elizabeth Thompson and Ann Thompson..
Survivors include: her husband, Ronald Renfroe, two daughters, Judy Griffin, Tracy Hall; two granddaughters, Brianna Griffin , Carrie (Brett) Johnson; a grandson Christopher Griffin; three great grandchildren; and four brothers, John Walter (Jeanette)Thompson, Earnest (Lorraine) Thompson, Thomas Thompson, James (Mary) Thompson, one brother-in-law Roy Britton, and one sister-in-law Mary Thompson.
Her pallbearers will be Rick Gordon, Bill Chester, Tod Tentler, Tommy Groce, John Parks, and Steve Smith.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ASPCA or the American Cancer Society on her behalf.
