Emily R. Redmon

Emily R. Redmon, age 93, resident of Columbus, died on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at her residence. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on Saturday, January 29, 2011, 3 p.m. with Jason Flowers officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Saturday, January 29, 2011 from 12 noon till 2 p.m. Mrs. Redmon, daughter of the late John Mack Rushing and Eula Lee Spivey Rushing, was born August 11, 1917 in Ansley, Alabama. She was a homemaker and member of Torch Hill Road Church of Christ, Columbus. Mrs. Redmon was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Redmon; three sisters, Sara A. Barker, Mae Graves, and Shirley Renfro; and four brothers, Carter Rushing, James Rushing, Reynolds Rushing, and Frank Rushing. She is survived by one daughter, Jean A. Hendrix of Columbus; one son, Thomas R. Redmon, Sr and his wife Betty of Columbus; two sisters, Margaret Swatzell and her husband Richard of Birmingham, AL, and Mary Motes and her husband Grady of Troy, AL; four grandchildren, Thomas Van Hendrix, Jodi Lynne Hendrix, Tracie Ann Hamm, and Thomas R Redmon, Jr,; one great-grandson, Austin Nathaniel Redmon; other relatives and friends.
