Ellis Ray Conrad

MSgt USAF (Ret.) Ellis R. Conrad, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 AM until service time.

MSgt Conrad was born on September 2, 1937 in Bascom, Florida to the late Odis W. and Silvady Conrad. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam in the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. Mr. Conrad was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who also enjoyed sports. He was a cherished father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Survivors include his four children, Gayla Conrad of Mabank, TX, Laura Ramon of Albuquerque, NM, Alan Conrad of Iowa Park, TX and Diana Davis of Burkburnett, TX; three grandchildren, Monica Ramon of Niceville, FL, Courtney Ramon of Valparaiso, FL and Brandi Melo of Wichita Falls, TX; six great-grandchildren, Elysa Ramon, Maya Volz, Malia Volz, Ty Villareal, Jason Villareal and Kaysen Villareal; a brother, Charles Conrad of Midland, GA; a sister, Avis Sapp of Statesboro, GA and special nieces, Donna Lappiere and Marie Dixon.
