Elise K. Townsend January 2, 1933 - February 14, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA — Elise K. Townsend, age 77, resident of Columbus, died on February 14, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, 1 p.m. with Reverend Roy White officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. Mrs. Townsend, daughter of the late Cecil Mack Kinser, Sr. and Mary Lena Grimes Kinser, was born January 2, 1933 in Goodwater, AL. She was a member of Edgewood United Methodist Church and was retired from Columbus Bank and Trust after 25 years of faithful service.

Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Townsend; a brother, Cecil Mack "Sonny" Kinser, Jr., and a granddaughter, Jill Kinser Thomas. She is survived by one daughter, Lori Troyer and her husband, Gary of Columbus; two sons, Ricky Thomas and his wife, Prissy of Columbus and Terry Thomas, also of Columbus; one step-daughter, Karen Hickey and her husband, Sanders of Atlanta, GA; one step-son, John Townsend of Birmingham, AL; three sisters, Martha "Bibie" Bone and her husband, Ben of Columbus, Ann Pickard and her husband, Bill of St. Simons Island, GA, and Linda Jackson of Columbus; one brother, Mack Kinser and his wife, Gail of Panama City Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, Brandon Thomas of Macon, GA, Jennifer Crosby and her husband, Ashley of Columbus, Clay Thomas of Columbus, Tara Thomas of Panama City Beach, FL, Emily Thomas of Panama City Beach, FL, Ashley Young of Athens, GA, and Colin Hickey of Atlanta, GA; two great-grandchildren, Kason Crosby and Brandon Young; numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
