A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 16, 2012 in the chapel of Stiffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907 with Dr. James C. Elder, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Bristow was born February12, 1925 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Edgar Franklin Bristow, Sr., and Evelyn Virginia Randall Bristow Adams. He graduated from Jordan Vocational High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he served at Pearl Harbor. Mr. Bristow worked for 44 years at Tom’s Peanuts and after retiring he worked for the Muscogee County Sherriff’s Department for 22 years as a Bailiff. He was a Member of the Exchange Club of Columbus for 49 years where he served as the club Secretary, and President. Mr. Bristow won many awards in the Exchange Club and served as the permanent Sergeant at Arms at the state conventions. Mr. Bristow was also a member of First Baptist Church of Columbus and the Scarbrough Bible Class. He loved reading, working crossword puzzles, and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Vera Lois Graddy Bristow of Columbus, GA; his daughter, Rebecca Ann Voyles and her husband, Don of Phenix City, AL; one grandson, Everett “Rhett” Voyles; four sister-in-laws, Ann Berthiaume, Betty Mathis, Nell Lehr and her husband, Butch, and Bea Graddy; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
