Douglas was born on February 23, 1940 to Bernice and Mancil Fowler in Geneva, Alabama. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1958 and in 1965, he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree and was a Graduate of Auburn University School of Pharmacy. He then went on to becoming a local pharmacist where he owned and operated Professional Pharmacy from 1971-1993. One of his passions was reading, studying, and sharing the Bible with others. Douglas also served as a Chaplain at Covenant Woods for 30 years. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife; Margie Fowler, his daughters; Tracey L. Yancey (Dale) and Elice Fowler McLendon (Billy), grandchildren; Roger Yancey (Chelsey), Phillip Yancey, Emily McLendon Walker (Ryan) and Seth McLendon, and great-grandchildren; Lillian and Tripp Yancey. He is preceded in death by his parents; Mancil and Bernice Fowler.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Family will meet with friends one hour prior at 1:00 PM at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
