Dorothy “Dot” Taylor Kelly, 90, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on July 6, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital. She was the daughter of Margaret V. Fell Taylor and William Henry Taylor, a lifelong resident of Columbus, Georgia. Dot was a graduate of Jordan Vocational High School and went on to obtain a higher education with business as her career choice. Dot worked for several businesses in the Columbus area to include Muscogee County School District, Burnham Van Services, and Striffler-Hamby Mortuary of Columbus as their receptionist/secretary. Dot was married to the late Duff J. “Gene” Kelly. She was a loving mother to her wonderful son, William Steven Kelly, who passed away in the 1980’s. She was a talented organist and was the Grand Organist for Order of The Eastern Star. Not only was Dot a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, but also with Rebekah Assembly of GA (Past Pres.), L.E.A. (Past Matriarch), Dept. Assn. Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant (Past State President), Business and Professional Women (Past State President). Dot was Christian in faith, a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church and later in life at Hilton Terrace Baptist Church.
Dot leaves her loving memory to be cherished by a number of cousins, other family members and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM with Reverend John Burnette officiating and burial in Parkhill Cemetery following the service.
