Donald "Don" Koepfer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2024. His life was marked by unwavering dedication to serving others and leaving a lasting impact on his community.
Don's commitment to his faith was evident through his active involvement at Evangel Church Assembly of God, where he found solace and purpose. He was a pillar of the congregation, serving in various capacities since his spiritual awakening in 1980. From leading Men's Ministries to spearheading mission trips around the world, Don's devotion to spreading God's love knew no bounds.
Beyond the church walls, Don was a passionate advocate for civic engagement and service. As a member of the Exchange Club, Habitat for Humanity, Columbus Artist Guild and Gideons International, he tirelessly worked to uplift those in need, embodying the values of compassion and generosity.
In his professional career spanning over four decades, Don excelled as an insurance and financial management consultant, guiding countless individuals and families towards a secure future. His dedication to his clients mirrored his commitment to his country, as evidenced by his honorable service in the U.S. Army, including combat duty in Vietnam.
Don's adventurous spirit led him to embark on numerous feats, from organizing track competitions to participating in charity races, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and even running twice with the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain. His zest for life and fearlessness in the face of challenges inspired all who knew him.
Above all, Don cherished his family, finding joy in the milestones and moments shared with his loved ones. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his values of integrity, resilience, and compassion.
Don's impact on the lives he touched is immeasurable, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Don's life will be held at Evangel Church on April 24, 2024 , 5350 Veterans Parkway, Columbus Ga., 31904 where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable journey.
