Donald W. Evermon passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018. The Evermon family will welcome loved ones and friends for visitation on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 10 in the morning at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary’s Edgewood Hall, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia. Funeral Services will begin at 11 in the morning on April 19, 2018, also in Striffler-Hamby’s Edgewood Hall with Rev. Dr. Tommy Henschel and Rev. Jimmy Little officiating. Following the funeral services, the family would like to welcome loved ones and friends for a Celebration of Life Reception in Striffler-Hamby’s Mill Room.
Donald W. Evermon, 78, was born January 1, 1940, in Bureau County, Illinois, to the late Wendell and Ann Evermon. His family lovingly remembers him as being a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cataula, Georgia and how he was instrumental in starting a Lay Witness team at Edgewood Baptist Church in the late 70’s and early 80’s. The God fearing Don was well-known for his heart for Christ, his Country, and his family. The lover of history, NASCAR, Notre Dame Football and trains was also a parcel man for UPS in Columbus for 31 years where he also served as Shop Steward for several years.
Don is preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, William Evermon; and his sister, Viola Evermon Lange.
He is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Ada; his children, David (Debbie) Evermon, Darin (Florence) Evermon, and Dana (Darren) Arrowsmith; his brother, John W. Evermon of Princeton, Illinois; and his favorite nephew, Steve (Marilyn) Lange of Dover, Illinois. Mr. Evermon also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever cherish is spirit and memory.
