Don Williams, age 82, resident of Columbus, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled at Living Grace UMC, Columbus on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, 11 a.m. with Reverend Roy White officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus.
Mr. Williams, son of the late Clarence Raymond Williams and Anna Maria Schwartz Williams, was born August 13, 1935 in Hornell, New York. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he honorably served his country. After his military service, he began a career in cold storage and worked faithfully for over 50 years for Georgia Cold Storage, retiring as Vice President. Mr. Williams’ true passion was little league baseball, serving as a coach and also President of Eastern Little League for several years.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Robbie Williams of Columbus; two daughters, Sherry Williams of Columbus and Sherri (Brian) Meadows of Jacksonville, Florida; three sons, Jeff (Caralyn) Williams of Callahan, Florida, Mike (Laura) Williams of Smith Station, Alabama, and Donnie Williams of Columbus; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Catharine, Brittney, Josh, Lindsay, Garrett, Elizabeth, Ashlyn, Taylor, Tripp, and Baileigh; four great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
