Don was born on September 22, 1944 in Geneva, Alabama; the son of John William Jordan and Ella Estelle Sellers Jordan. Don graduated from Jordan Vocational High School in 1962, and he became the best at his job working his way to Quality Assurance Supervisor over four decades at MeadWestvaco retiring in 2009.
Don was an avid sportsman and was willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn. Whether it was coaching Dixie youth baseball, playing basketball in his youth, or teaching young men about hunting, Don was always willing to invest in others. Don loved Auburn and proudly supported them through every season and sport.
Don was a great story teller. He adored watching his grandchildren grow and thrive. He loved sitting with each one, listening to them, explaining whenever they had questions, and teaching them to see what was around them.
One of the most admirable characteristics of Don was his simple trust in Jesus. If you asked him for advice, like his daddy, he would think before explaining his opinion, but he never gave advice without telling you to pray about it and let the Lord lead you. Though he would be the last one to push a relationship, he patiently waited with subtle hints, and once you showed up or called, he would give you all of his attention. He led with confidence and always wanted the best for those God entrusted to his care.
Don was Beverly's soulmate, best friend, and protector; Don showed his love with no restriction. Whether it was allowing his little girl to hide behind him when meeting new people, showing affection to Lance on the crowded football field after a game, or telling people how proud he was of Tony and Clint; Don always turned the conversation towards others. He was an encouragement and always reminded us to think positive.
He loved his siblings and their children, always celebrating their achievements. Even years after retirement, Don still shared with joy the stories and good memories of former coworkers and friends. Don will be greatly missed, but he leaves a lasting legacy.
Don is preceded in death by his father and mother; his son, Clinton Ledon Jordan, and his granddaughter Anni Belle Jordan.
Don is survived by wife, Beverly Ballard Jordan; sister Gail Jordan Blackmon; two brothers Ronnie A. Jordan (Kathy) and J. Kenneth Jordan (Georgia); his children, Anthony Don Jordan (Vicki), William Lance Jordan (Miki), and Amber Jordan Farmer (Charley); ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
