Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2021 in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. David will be laid to rest at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with U.S. Air Force Honors.
David was born in Noma, FL. On December 17, 1943 to the late Curtis Smith and Vernell Davis Smith. He was a licensed insurance agent and the owner of Fountain City and Associates Insurance Agency.
David was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and an active member of North Highland Church where he worked Security.
David loved his wife and being able to spend time with her, and his daughters and grandchildren. He enjoyed being outdoors especially working with his tractor and spending time with his dog, Snowflake. David visited Burger King on a daily basis where he met new friends and was well known by the staff and they would joke with him about being the Mayor of Burger King. David never met a stranger and he was always willing to help his family and friends when they needed something because David knew how to barter with folks for the best deal.
Survivors include his loving wife of twelve years, Claudia Crabtree Greene Smith, daughters; Kelli Odom, Stephanie Martin (Jimmy), Jessica Pyles, Jamie Greene, Alexis Smith (Michael) a sister, Frances Smith Connally (Jimmy), grandchildren; Josh Odom (Courtney), Cheyan Odom, Anne Martin, Mitchell Martin, Kenneth Pyles, Alyssa Player, Lilly Odom, Nevaeh Pyles, Michael Vater III, Adam Greene and Charlotte Thornton and one great grandchild, Damien Odom.
