Daisy L. Hosford Kimberly

Daisy L. Kimberly, 91, of Columbus, GA passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Gentiva Hospice. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby with Reverend Tim Jones officiating. A private burial will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Mrs. Kimberly, daughter of the late Bishop M. Hosford and Eliza Holland Hosford, was born May 28, 1924 in Chester, GA. Mrs. Kimberly worked for several years at WRBL as secretary to George Gingell. After working for the Department of Intelligence at the Pentagon Mrs. Kimberly retired in 1986 and the Kimberlys moved back to Columbus. Mrs. Kimberly was an active member of Britt David Baptist Church for nearly 30 years. Having a deep desire to lead others to Christ, Mrs. Kimberly taught Sunday School and worked in Vacation Bible School for many years. She participated in the Choir and along with her friend, Dot, she visited many of the sick, lonely, and needy in the community. Mrs. Kimberly had a passion for painting beautiful landscapes and flowers which her family will always treasure.

Other than her parents, Mrs. Kimberly is preceded in death by her husband Fred L. Kimberly and ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by her three children, Linda Jones, Sue Hebert and David Kimberly of Columbus, GA; grandchildren Bill Jones (Rhonda Evans), Michael Hebert (Marlene), Julie Parker (Shawn), Kelly Billie (Jay) and Jennifer Humphries; great grandchildren Sophie, Daniel, and Benjamin Hebert; Zachary and Emma Parker; Skye and Shayla Billie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; her loving church family at Britt David Baptist; special friends Mary Leighty, Dot Richardson, and Betty Watkins.
