A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 11:00AM in the Mill Room at Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, Georgia. Visitation will be on Sunday at Striffler-Hamby from 5:00PM until 7:00PM. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery with military honors.
Curtis Henry Gaylor was born on January 4, 1931 in Broomtown, Alabama to the late Pearl Byars Gaylor and Claude Gaylor. He served his country honorably and faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict with two tours. He also served in the Panama Canal during his service and retired honorably after 22 years of service. Mr. Gaylor worked after his service in the U.S. Army at Ft. Benning in the civil service as a heavy equipment technician. After his retirement from civil service Mr. Gaylor enjoyed spending time with his family. He was avid at fishing, hunting and spending time in the great outdoors. He loved his grandchildren dearly and would do anything for them. He was always tinkering with and fixing things. He was a man that would help anyone, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Other than his parents Mr. Gaylor is also preceded in death by his son Gene Gaylor.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Gaylor; daughter, Terri Powell and her husband Bill; son, Ron Gaylor and his wife Cindy; grandchildren: Dana Stinson (Andy) Zachary Gaylor (Richard Anderson), Megan Callahan (Doug), Erin Powell, Allison Powell (Seth Colden), and Michael Gaylor; great-grandchildren: Michael Scott, Matthew Scott, Grant Callahan, John Callahan, Ava Grace Boswell, Ella and Emma Boswell.
