A service to celebrate Cliff’s life will be held at Wynnbrook Baptist Church, 500 River Knoll Way, Columbus, GA. on Saturday December 18, 2021. Visitation between 11:00 - noon. Memorial service at noon.
Cliff Baker was born in Austria, the son of Erna Scharnagl Baker and Clifton Baker. Cliff met his wife Carol in Joppatowne, Maryland and they were married in April 1970. Shortly after marriage, Cliff answered his nation's call as he was drafted to serve in the US Army. While stationed in Germany, Cliff and Carol had their oldest son, Eddie Baker. Cliff’s military service eventually sent him to Fort Benning, Ga where their youngest son, Philip Baker was born. Ever since, Cliff and his family have called Columbus home. After his Army service, Cliff continued to work on Fort Benning in Civil Service, retiring at 55. He is Christian by faith and his faith is reflected in how Cliff lived his life. Cliff was a member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church where he was a dedicated member of the Mixed Nuts Sunday School Class. Cliff enjoyed numerous hobbies. He participated in league bowling for over 50 years, had a lifelong passion for golf, and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Cliff most enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be greatly missed.
He leaves his loving memory to be cherished by his wife of over 51 years, Carol S. Baker; his sons Eddie (Crystal) Baker and Philip Baker; his adored grandchildren: Jake Baker, Luke Baker, and Alyssa Hampton; his brother Norman (Allie) Baker; extended family Eddie (Christine) Weed and extended grandchildren Graceyn Weed and Greer Weed and other family members and great friends.
