C.L. Moss, 93, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. A visitation for family and friends of C.L. will be held Friday, January 8, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Edgewood Hall Chapel of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. C.L. was born January 20, 1927 in Geneva, Alabama to Ella Clyde Vanlandingham Moss and Charley Moss. At 18, he joined the Army and proudly served his country in Japan during WWII. After the war, he moved to Columbus, Georgia looking for employment where he met and married his wife of 66 years, Nell. C.L was a longtime member of Britt David Baptist Church where he served as an usher. He was dependable and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family. C.L. enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved fishing, a big vegetable garden, preparing large meals for his family and planting flowers. He passed his work ethic to his children and grandchildren as well as his sense of responsibility and love of family. We remember him for that love of family and teaching us to be self-reliant.
C.L. was preceded in death by his parents, as well as four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his loving wife, Nellie Fuller Moss; daughter, Paula McGowan (Mark) of Upatoi, GA; son, Larry Moss (Sabrena) of Phenix City, AL; daughter, Laura Simonson (Buck) of Midlothian, VA; grandson, Jeremy McGowan (Tammy); grandson, Daniel McGowan; granddaughter, Amber Ward (Ben); granddaughter, Jennifer Wallace; granddaughter, Brooke Casteel (Jamie); grandson, Larry Moss, Jr. (Desi); and fourteen great grandchildren.
