On December 13, 2020, Christina “Chris” Scribner passed away from a brief illness. She was a first-generation Scottish-American born in Boston, Massachusetts now residing in Richland, Georgia. Christina was devoted to her country, family, friends and community.
After receiving a Diploma from Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she became an Army Operating Room Nurse with special assignment to the cardiac research team serving as a Second and First Lieutenant at Fort Sam Houston in Houston, Texas and Bad Kreuznack, Germany, respectively. She later received an undergraduate and graduate degree from the University of Evansville in Indiana and Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of Minnesota. She practiced in various clinical settings as a staff nurse, worked as an assistant professor of cardiac care, gerontology, and emergency room nursing, coordinated occupational health care and nurse mobility programs, and became director of nursing of a long-term care facility. She served on her city zoning committee, held numerous elected positions with the American Nurses Association and Long Term Care Nurses Association, volunteered in local community fundraising campaigns, gardened, was a member at Trinity Episcopal Church and enjoyed arts and crafts.
Christina is survived by her daughters, Deborah and Suzanne Scribner; her sons, Scott and Warren Scribner; and four grandchildren, Mary, John, Mathew and Madison.
The family invites friends and family to the Visitation at Striffler Hamby Funeral Home in Columbus, Georgia on December 17, 2020 from 5-8 pm and graveside service at Ft. Mitchell Cemetery at 11 am on December 18, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in Christina’s name to the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, Shriners Hospital, American Legion, and/or the American Cancer Society.
