Christa H. King

Christa was born on December 20, 1933, in Germany to Hildegard and Eric Scholzel. Both of her parents preceded her in death. She was an only child but always wanted a sibling. Christa was baptized as an infant in the Catholic Church and received her confirmation in grade school. She married a United States Army soldier, Jones A. Winstead, after coming to the United States. Jones Winstead had his sister sponsor her to come to the United States before their marriage. Christa became a United States citizen which was very important to her. Columbus, Georgia became her home where she raised her two loving daughters and helped with her grandsons needs and shared their joys. She worked at Sunshine Biscuits, until she retired. Christa's extended family lives in and around Forest, Mississippi who she loved and visited when possible.

Christa is survived by her daughters, Linda Boyd and son-in-law, Lt. Col. Richard L. Boyd, Jr, and Renate Bledsoe; grandsons, Richard L. Boyd III, Alexander B. Boyd and wife, Megan, Zachary A. Boyd and wife, Caroline, and Buddy Bledsoe and wife, Kayla; her great grandsons, Elan Kirkland, Cody Kirkland, Luca Bledsoe, Simon Boyd, and Levi Boyd; and an unborn great grandchild. Christa is also survived by her two stepdaughters, Susan Morgan and Karen Stafford; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who live across the South.

A Graveside Funeral Service Celebrating the Life of Christa will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, April 13, 2025 in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
