A service to celebrate the life of MSG (Ret.) Norris will be held Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA with Reverend Charles Hayes officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
MSG (Ret.) Norris was born June 14, 1933 in Thomson, GA, son of the late Alvin and Rosa Mae Brinkley. He served honorably in the US Army and retired after 26 years of service. During his military career, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Vietnam Service Medal.
After retiring from the US Army, MSG (Ret.) Norris worked for Sunshine Biscuits and retired. Charlie enjoyed spending time and making memories with his family. He was loyal to his family, friends, and work associates. He was a hard worker and dedicated to excellence in his career endeavors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gina O’dell and a nephew, Wayne Morris.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Norris; three children, Jeff Norris, Cheryl Youmans and Charlie Norris, Jr., (Rocky); five grandchildren, Christopher Lance Norris, Lacy Nicole Kasson, Kyle Jeffrey Norris, C.J. Youmans, and Chad Youmans; five great grandchildren, Maddox Belaire, Lexie Angstadt, Harper Norris, Jack Norris, and Avery Norris; one sister, Frances
Morris; nieces and nephews, Gaile Coleman, Judy Davis, Obbie Morris, and Charles Morris; five step children, Bobby Nix, Wayne Nix (Carmon), Kathy Baker (Jay), Mark Nix Juanita Nix and Keith Stender (Kim); 2 step grandchildren, Brendyn Stenderand and Abigail Stender.
