Charles was born on July 8, 1947 to the late Betty DuPriest White and Billy Eugene White. Chuck enjoyed many things in life such as playing computer games, hearing and telling silly jokes; as well as drinking coffee with his friends in the mornings at the “Burger King Lounge”, for which he did for twenty-eight years.
Chuck graduated from Jordan High School in 1965 and then he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was based in Norfolk, Virginia. He worked as a machinist mate on the USS Francis Marion LPA 249. He was active in the Navy until 1970 and then worked with his Uncle Robert doing heating and air; as well as working in construction. The experience he gained from working with his uncle landed him a job on Fort Benning doing heating and air, where he worked for nineteen years. Then he worked with Bob Cothran doing refrigeration and also started to drive buses commercially. His commercial bus driving began with driving for Craig Goss, then Southern Transportation, and lastly Capital Trailways. He was a long-time member of Evangel Church in Columbus, Georgia, where he drove the church bus- "Eagle" for different groups. He served with the church missions team (MAPS) and earned the title of “cement mixer extraordinaire”. He also was a part of the church’s “Clown Ministry” where he was known as "Chuckles" and active as a church usher where he was known for his hugs. After retiring from bus driving, he drove for the after-school program at North Highland Church, Highland Kids Academy picking up children from Matthew's Elementary School on the "Chuck-Wagon."
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Billy White; his grandparents, Doris and Ocie White and Homer and Irene DuPriest; his aunt, Patsy D. Clark (Jim); and his uncle, Robert DuPriest (Audrey).
Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Sandy White; his children, Tabitha White-Lopez (Julio), Jeffrey Lindgren (Heather), Christina Grant (Gene), and Amy Comeaux (Keith); his grandchildren, Lacie Lindgren (Casey), Ashlei Dunlap (Carl), Traci Boyd (Casey), Robbie Grant, Jonathan Gavins (Hannah), Hayley Comeaux (Tori), Keith Comeaux Jr. (Bailey), Justin Gavins, and Brendan Gavins; 9 great-grandchildren; and many beloved friends and children who called him Mr. Chuck.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Evangel Church with a memorial service to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM with Pastor Paul Thomas and Pastor Bud Rupel officiating.
